New Life Community Church, originally named Westside Assembly of God until 2002, was founded in 1956 by A.W. Thomason who had been traveling to Marion and hosting tent revival meetings.  He felt that a permanent church should be planted in Marion and in the fall of 1960, New Life was incorporated as a sovereign church.

The church saw continued expansion and growth around evangelism and a Bus Ministry.  It seemed that we were constantly in a building program from 1957 – 1973, when at that time, the buildings were completed.  One of those expansions was the creation of Westside Christian School.

Pastor Thomason stayed as Senior Pastor until 1987.  His 30+ years of ministry at New Life Community Church will never be forgotten and often his impact is still felt today.

After 1987, New Life Community Church saw 3 other Senior Pastors (Johnny Garrison -1987-1993, Larry Gallaway Sr. – 1994 – 1999, and Chad Pfeifer – 1999 – 2006).  Each came to minister here with their own unique approach and attitude.

In September of 2006, New Life Community Church began a new page in its history when Pastor David and Shami Grieve came to be the Senior Pastors.  New Life is once again seeing the focus of evangelism be brought to the forefront.  There is an attitude and feel of momentum and growth as we strive to live out our simple vision of Loving God and Loving People.

We are seeing God use New Life Community Church in tangible ways in our community and region and showing that we truly are a community-minded church where you can come as you are, be real and find New Life!!
